Clueless…

The more I know about things, the more illiterate I feel. You know the feeling…that there’s so much to know about in this world, that you feel one lifetime is inadequate. I guess everyone has felt this at some point in their life. Physics, chemistry, biology, politics, geography, you name it, the subjects are endless. There’s so much of knowledge in this world that it makes me wonder if it’s ever possible to know everything about everything? And the funny part is, as a child, I felt school teaches us everything…naivety, thy name is childhood! Age teaches us how clueless we really are…

Whenever I read something about physics, I wish I had taken it up as a vocation…then I go and read something else and it makes me want to be in that profession…Till now I have wanted to be a doctor, physicist, philosopher, writer, song writer, DJ, musician, chef, veterinarian, biologist, environmental engineer, journalist, dog psychologist, zoo keeper, teacher (of what I don’t know), an honest politician (no pun intended), work in an NGO, lawyer, activist, wildlife photographer, have my own adventure institute, painter (artsy type), archeologist…I may be missing out on some…but I keep adding to it…so the list will be a work in progress I guess.

Moral of the story? My husband put it best… The drive to learn and explore new things is what really matters in life. Have a new hobby every couple of months and try and learn different things. Perhaps that is the beginning to the quest to know everything about everything!

probably u missed out on being an astronaut may be :D
One of my wishes for myself :)

Even I have had these times when I felt that there is so much to know in this world.I guess in my case I feel it more profoundly about a few things, history being one of them.If u start simply with history there are so many civilizations, so many cultures and so much in the past I feel one life time will not be enough to even know the complete history of mankind :)

So yes keep on exploring....

As they say..stay hungry stay foolish :)

like someone said "when you are through learning, you're through."

i think it is a positive thing that there is so much always left to learn. it would be tragic if one knew *everything*.

Like the way it is said in Vedas Neti Neti (not this, not this).
Sorry if I am wrong with example (Particularly because my example is related to religion). This is first line which came to my mind after reading you post.

Thanks guys, for your comments.

The urge to explore and learn new things is what makes us humans I guess...otherwise we would have been happy hanging from trees and basking in the sun all day...although that's not a bad life either ;)
I so agree with you. This feeling of exploring and knowing more is second nature to us Humans :).
